Bob Turners Track - Wollemi National Park. The Colo Gorge, Wollemi National Park, North-West of Sydney, NSW, Australia. Grade: Medium. The Track Drops 350m down to the river. Time: 3 - 4 Hours. Distance: 7 Km Return. Maps: Colo Heights and Mountain Lagoon 1:25 000 (9338-3-N and 9031-3-S ). a map below also. Camping: Yes. Swimming: Yes Location Access: Putty Rd, Colo Heights. Drive north on the Putty Rd from Windsor, to the Ampol service station at Colo Heights, about 16km after the Colo River Bridge. After a further 500m turn left on to a fire trail, marked with an NPWS sign saying "Bob Turners Track" The Sign is small and green, so keep your eyes open. Follow the fire trail, Watch Out for the speed humps, if you have a lowered car it will be hard to get over them, keeping left at a junction after 700m, for about 3km to a parking area. There are NPWS signs at the track head. The fire trail used to be in good condition but is currently a bit rocky and rutted. Lowered cars will need to take care. Track Notes:Begin, Wandered down the winding track in and out of several gullies. Closer to the Colo, the track steepened. Once you reached the river, have lunch here and a swim in the beautiful pool if it is a sunny day. If you have time, you may like to explore upstream or downstream on the banks. After a break, return to your car the same way, up hill. There are no toliets or other facilities. Try to preserve natural values by leaving no trace of your visit. Take care if camping near river edge, the river rises with rainfalls rapildy. On the walk, a Lace Monitor / Goanna, was just climbing a tree.
